Prairie Dog Shoot

Where: Tucson Rifle Club, Three Points
When:   2nd Saturday on odd numbered months & 2nd Sunday on even numbered months

We suggest being there by 7:30 A.M. for set up, sight in, and of course the educational conversations (a.k.a. bull session).
Shoots require approximately 50 to 60 rounds. (40 rounds competition plus sight in)
Current cost is $10 per shooter and you can normally shoot a second rifle for an additional $5.
Not only are these shoots a lot of fun, they allow you to develop your skills for shooting at longer ranges. If you
participate regularly, you will learn to read the wind and mirage and evolve a shooting technique that is repeatable
and automatic. All the things you need when you are in the field where it's for real.
The links below provide the documentation for the Prairie Dog Shoots.

The image below shows the relative size of the steel targets and where they are placed for the regular Prairie Dog Shoot.
Those dark specks at 500 meters are silhouettes of rams, about 18 x 30 inches in size.

Prairie Dog Shoot Targets

Three times a year there is a special shoot know as the Ironman Shoot. It is more difficult than the regular Prairie
Dog Shoot in that smaller targets are placed at the 200m and 385m distances as shown below.
